F.D.H Mood Music Library '78s'

Another fantastic British library formed in 1926 by Francis, Day & Hunter. The company had many banners, including F.D. & H. - F.D & H. Ltd - F.Day & Hunter. With its parent label being E.M.I Music Publishing.
This is one of its sub-labels FDH Mood Music.

The libraries first iteration was under the licence of E.M.I Music Productions, where they issued 79 78's, mostly on Shellac. Followed by a short stint with the Mercury label where it issued 33 released, before taking full ownership under the FDH organisation where it continued to its end run of 356+ releases.

The label had several conductors, most famously, the wonderful Sydney Torch, where he conducted The New Century Orchestra.

There has been some speculation that the company name has just been re-issued. I have yet to find any information as to whether they will be re-releasing some of the older 78's etc. or if they intend to start afresh with new and up-coming composers; as most of the other labels have done. So looking forward to some potential exciting news there.

Once again, this label housed some of the worlds most amazing and talented composers:

Ivor Slaney (1921-1998)
Peter Warren
A. Murray
M. Jones
L. Young
Phillip Cannon (1929-2016)
Heinz Reiche

Andrew Fenner
Herbert Leonard Stevens (Died - 1989)
Ronald Hanmer (1917-1994)

  1. I really like the the ones in from 259 forward. Especially FDH.356 - Amber/Suzanne. I remembered hearing the name H. Sosnick before, did a search and found with Harry Sosnik (no ck in Sosnick) in my Sonaura (KILLA 78rpm-Chappell label) folder.
    Anyway, great stuff!!!

    1. Cool, thanks for the info on Sosnik - May have just been a misprint on the label. Changed and hoping it is the same guy hehe!

  3. Thank you for providing "Sea Winds". My father Arnold Murray wrote it, and it was also released in 1963 in the US by Atco.
